FIRST grade for Cameron!!!

Well, I have to admit this was a little hard for me!  Not I cried on the way home hard, but holy cow my son is in all day school and has a million other influences on him now hard!!  What an awesome kid he is though!  He was super excited to start a NEW grade, at a NEW school (Herriman Elementary), and learn a NEW language!  He is in the Spanish emersion program there.  Luckily we have some neighbors/friends that go to the school so we carpool with them.  They have a son in second grade and a daughter in fourth grade.  So they were able to help him feel a little more comfortable.

I think Mackenzie had a hard time with her friend and brother leaving her all day, but she was excited to drop him off and see his school.  She loves driving carpool and going to his class once a week with me to volunteer.

I hated leaving him this first day, I felt a little sad for him standing in line waiting for the bell to ring.  He didn't know anyone and had a big day ahead of him, but I knew he would quickly make friends and he would do awesome!

He had a hard time adjusting to the first few weeks of all day school, "it's so long mom...and I don't get to be with you and Kenzie...I miss you guys all day."  And he had some struggles with the Spanish teacher being super strict and scary mean at times....as well, as a few run in's with a kid that has zero boundaries and wouldn't leave Cameron alone.  All a bunch of adjustments.  Some of which cause him stress and made him cry, not wanting to go to school.  I met with the principal and discussed how things needed to be changed.  So after some seating arangments were changed and the Spanish teacher was "talked to" (she had other complaints of her being mean from other parents)....it got a lot better.  And Cameron enjoyed going to school.  He has been doing awesome in his Spanish class and excelled in reading and math so far!

First day of preschool

Mackenzie started her first day of her second year of preschool!  She is going to Learning Dynamics again and She goes M,W,F  mornings 9:00-11:15.  She was excited to start school again, but she really is a home body and mommies girl so it's hard for her to be gone for "so long".

She found her classroom and her seat.  She is excited to start learning to read this year!!

Tea party with Grammy

Mackenzie was sooooo excited for the tea party with Grammy.  Grammy told her to bring one of her dolls and they would have a special day.  So I dropped her off and she couldn't wait for me to leave.  I was lucky she let me get a few pictures before she kicked me out the door :)  When I picked her up she told me all about the little sandwiches, and cookies they had and all about Grammys "super old doll she had as a little girl".  She talked about the tea party for weeks and keeps asking when she can have another one!  Mom, thanks for making special memories for Mackenzie!  I love that you spend quality time with the kids and get to know them, and their interests.
