Today's Dr. visit

Today was another monthly doctor checkup. But it wasn't a typical one...today they were checking my glucose and iron level. 45 minutes before my appointment I HAD to eat a King Size Snickers bar. I know...what a horrible test :) I think I could handle doing this every month! The only catch was I had to eat the candybar in 5 minutes, so I couldn't really enjoy it all that much.

On your mark get set GO....

I'm happy to report the tests all came back "great" and "normal". So that was all good news. I was sort of hoping there would have been something wrong with the machine that tested my blood so maybe next time I would have to take the test again :) Jeremy met me at my appointment and we got to hear the little heart beat again. She said it sounded good and all my measurements were right on schedule! I see him in 3 weeks then 2 weeks and then weekly...so we're getting close (I think I can make it!!)

IT'S A BOY!!

My mom thought it would be fun to get the whole family together for dinner so we could announce what we were having to everyone at once. It was a great idea...Michele, Spencer, Margo, Rick, Lindsie, Troy, Mallory, My mom & Dad, and Herb & Genive were able to be there. Janessa & Barry couldn't come because she had a basketball practice. We had our ultrasound earlier that afternoon and it was hard to keep it a secret...especially since my mom took me to lunch that afternoon and we went shopping. I'm surprised she didn't sneak it out of me. I know she was trying hard because I think we went to Babies R Us...she probabaly wanted to see if I would look at boy stuff or girl stuff. I didn't crack though. I felt a little bit of pressure to come up with a good idea of how to tell the whole family we were having a boy since a big dinner was planned around it!
I decided to get some fortune cookies and remove the fortune from them and replace it with my own fortune. So in each cookie I put one word...everyone opened up a fortune cookie and then worked together to form a sentence.

It took a little while to figure out where the words went and everyone had fun helping.

Margo freaked out at first because she got the word "and" so she immediately thought we were having twins. Lindsie thought she figured it out because she got the word "girl", but this was all part of the plan. I didn't want anyone to figure it out too easily. The sentence went like this "Meg and Jeremy are having a baby and it is not a girl".

My parents have a family dinner the last Sunday of every month at their house and the kids get to pick something out of the "grammy drawer". We decided this would be a good time to announce to the whole family we were pregnant. One of the grandkids draws a name out of a bowl to see who gets to go pick their prize first, instead of putting names in the bowl on each piece of paper we wrote "I am going to have another cousin." So Lindsie picked out the piece of paper and read that outloud...it took a little while for everyone to get it, but Margo started screaming once she figured it out. My mom had the grandkids bet on what they thought we were going to have. They told them that the winners would get some money. So Spencer & Troy guessed right (of course the boys all said we were having a boy and the girls guessed we would have a girl). My parents ended up giving the girls some second place money so everyone was happy :). Everyone gave us their ideas on names for the baby. Spencer & Troy named all their friend's...Mallory wanted us to name him Lester (total inside joke with her & Jeremy)...and Rick shouldn't be allowed to think of names, his vote was Oscar.

Margo came prepared with a 'boy' gift and a 'girl' gift since she didn't know what it was going to be.

My parents gave us some fun gifts that I'm sure Cameron will get lot's of use out of. It was a fun evening. What more could I ask for...family, cheese fries, and gifts? Jeremy's mom Theresa sent a cute outfit once she heard the news we were having a boy. She had sent us some bibs when she found out we were pregnant, but they were generic for a girl or boy. She couldn't wait to know what we were having so she could send a gender specific outfit!

Pregnant Pics

I'm not super thrilled about putting these pictures on my blog, but I know I would be mad if I didn't take some pictures along the journey to remember how I looked and the progress of Cameron's growth! I found out I was pregnant September '08...I wasn't feeling really well most mornings and I was getting up really early to be to work at the Elementary school, but I didn't really think I was pregnant. Finally one morning after throwing up my breakfast I decided to get a pregnancy test. I stopped at a Dan's in-between jobs. After my job at Rose Park Elementary I would go to my old job at the University of Utah's Department of Psychiatry and run a group. Anyway, I was dying to know but waited until I got home from group. My mom, dad and Jeremy were waiting for me to eat dinner...I hurried to the bathroom and did my thing on the stick. It was positive...I was in shock! I went out and ate dinner and decided to wait a few days and take another test. Well, 3 tests later I figured "I guess I could be pregnant..." I told Jeremy that weekend and he was super excited. I think I was still in denial, until several months later (January 22nd) when we saw the ultrasound and found out we were having a boy. However, because I didn't start showing until 6 months I was still in a little bit of denial :)

7 months pregnant

I stopped working by November and have had some free time on my hands. It's been nice to be able to relax and go to lunch with my mom and sisters. I've had several colds that won't go away...which have caused me to not be able to breathe too well and created some weird claustrophobia/anxiety problems for me. There are some nights I just don't sleep at all. One night my mom stayed up with me baking all night because I couldn't sleep and was so anxious...we stayed up until like 2 am making cake and cookies :) Thanks mom!! My mom keeps telling me she "can't wait to get her hands on Cameron and kiss his skin off." I hope I don't have to call DCFS on my own mom :)

6 months pregnant

Oh man....this picture is of my arm tag I got at the ER....not a fun day! It started of Saturday morning at about 4 am. I woke up screaming in pain with the worst calf cramp I've ever had in my life. It wouldn't go away and my whole leg was contorted with my toes even cramping! Jeremy woke up wondering what the heck was going on. he tried to straighten my leg for me but nothing was helping. Finally about 1/2 hour later the major pain stopped and was just a regular mild painful cramp. I never fell back asleep though. All Saturday I could barely walk, I couldn't touch my calf, it was hot and started swelling by the end of the day. My nice mom massaged my leg and put heat on it, but nothing helped. She started to worry that it could be a blood clot, but I didn't want to go to the doctor. Sunday I was in charge of the primary sharing time and had spent a lot of time getting it ready so I had to go...the only problem is I could barely walk. I went, did the sharing time and left right after to go to urgent care. What a joke...I thought I was on Candid Camera for sure! I've never seen a worse doctor in my life, I don't know what school he graduated from but I'm pretty sure it was like vet school or something because he had no clue about humans! He was disheveled looking and was reading a book when he came in. The first question he asked me was if I was on any medications like birth control or anything. I sarcastically said, "hmmm...actually I'm pregnant, guess birth control didn't work so well." He felt stupid and quickly moved on to take the pulse in my ANKLE!! After staring at the floor for 5 minutes while taking my pulse he asked what I do for a living. I explained I was a Social Worker and did therapy. He said "oh...so in your opinion what do you think is wrong with you?" I felt like saying, "well right now I would diagnosis myself as homocidal and diagnosis you as an idiot!" I refrained and instead said, "I think I might have a blood clot." He quickly agreed and said "yup I would say there's a 75 to 90% chance you have a blood clot...we don't treat those here...in fact the girl at the front should have told you that, but she doesn't know anything she just graduated from high school...if I were you I would go immediately to the emergency room because we don't have any equipment here, everything we have is old and crappy." I kept waiting for the crew from Punk'd to jump out and say Ha Ha we got you! So, we left there and went to the ER. Luckily it was Super Bowl Sunday so the ER wasn't too busy. They finally took us back in a room and then wheeled me off for an unltrasound. I came back to the room and waited with Jeremy...he informed me he was missing a really good basketball game that he had been watching in the waiting room (probabaly something he regrets saying now, but at the time it seemed like an ok thing to say to your pregnant wife who's sitting in the ER freaking out that she has a blood clot and her leg is hot and swollen!) Luckily 3 hours later we were able to leave the hospital, the doctor determined it wasn't a blood clot, I just had a horrible charlie horse that tore my calf muscle! YIKES! it took about 2 weeks to heal back to normal. Just one of the joys of being pregnant :) Everyone was at my sister's house for a Super Bowl Party, so we drove over there and made it there by half time. Two weeks later I went to the doctor because I had these enormous bumps all over my tounge and it hurt to eat or swallow. They did a strep test, which came back negative...they had no idea what it was and told me there really wasn't anything I could take being pregnant. I waited it out and about a month later they went away. Weird things happen when your pregnant. Now I completely understand why there are some families with only one child in this world...I used to think it was sad, but we might be one of those families!

This is the first item I bought...its a Ralph Lauren diaper bag! I bought it about 2 months after I found out I was pregnant. Jeremy thought it was funny that I bought something so soon...he wanted to take a picture so we would remember the first item I bought.

I couldn't resist these tiny polo shoes! I bought them before we knew what we were having, but I had felt from the begining we were having a boy. People say it's a mother's intuition...who knows what it was, but I guessed right. Anyway, I can't resist polo clothes, especially little kid clothes! Cameron is going to be a very well dressed kid, he already has a wardrobe of Ralph Lauren! I did buy one Tommy Hilfiger outfit for Jeremy's sake...I figured I would let him represent one outfit :)

The Children's Museum

Margo and Rick went to Moab for the weekend and so Troy spent a few night with Spencer and Lindsie and Mallory got to come stay with us at Grammy and Grampy's for the weekend. We all went to lunch at the Training Table (of course!) and then went to the Children's Museum on Saturday (3/21/09). What a fun place! You could spend the whole day there. We didn't get there until 1:45 and just happened to be the 1,000 customers so we all got in free! What luck! There was a fun chocolate experiment exibit they were doing, but since it ended at 2:00 we didn't get to see much of it. I did get several samples of delicious mint truffles (my fav), so I was happy :) I practiced my own experiment to see how fast I could make them disappear!
All the kids had to have pennies to put in the spinning coin thingy, they could have just done that all day and been happy.

Janessa, Grampy & Michele

There was a neat exibit that you build something and then it shows you what would happen to the building in an earthquake. The boys had fun building and Lindsie had fun knocking it down with the "earthquake button".

There was a fun stage with cute costumes and a curtain so the kids could put on plays. This play was a mix between the three little pigs & little red riding hood...then Spencer (the big bad wolf) started saying "ho ho ho Merry Christmas"? Glad we didn't pay money for that play ;)

Mallory was in her own little world...she is so funny. She enjoys playing by herself and doing her own thing! Her favorite place was the house and the store where she would buy the food and take it to the house.

There was a neat wall that was made of metal and the tubes all had magnets on them so Jeremy & Janessa built some design with the tubes and then put a ball in it to see how far it would go.

Spencer & Troy didn't want to leave the magnet wall...they had fun making their own creations.

I am 7 months pregnant (30 weeks) and Jeremy & I plan to take Cameron here when he is big enough. I think Spencer & Troy will have fun helping him build things!

These things were way cooler than legos! I wish they had these things when I was a kid!!

There was a helicopter on the roof that you could sit in and pretend you were flying...tons of buttons to push...a kids dream.

Jer & Lindsie

Lindsie & Mallory at Grammy & Grampy's playing on the swing set before we went to the Children's Museum. You can't tell in this picture, but Lindsie wanted me to do her hair that morning. It turned out really cute...I used my flat iron and made big ringlet curls. She loved it and said, "Meg you have to show my mom how to do this!" So, Margo I guess I can give you some lessons on how to do your daughters hair :)

Happy Love Day '09

I got Jeremy a wallet for Valentine's Day...when I asked him what he wanted that was what he told me. He really needed one because his other one was falling apart. I thought 'that's a good thing to get, but it seems kind of boring!' Trying to be creative, I remembered that the Lakers were only playing the Jazz in Utah one home game this season, and it was in February. So I called around and tried to find some good tickets. I ended up getting some sweet tickets, with the help of my dad and a generous neighbor. Row 19...not too shabby! So little did Jeremy know that inside the wallet was the real Valentine's present. He almost didn't open the wallet to look, he just glanced over it and said "thanks"...when he went to look again he finally opened it up and got really excited!

I'm not sure why the picture turned this way, it's not how it was when I took it. Anyway, tilt your head if you want to check it out :)

We had fun making sugar cookies and icing them! The rule was we could eat the ones that break while we ice them...needless to say plenty of them broke that night ;) We stuck with the tradition of ordering Chinese and staying in...to avoid the crowded restaurants. We watched a movie while cuddling up to a fire.

Troy and Spencer on their cool scooters. Troy's new scooter was hillarious, you have to wiggle your butt and hips to get it to go...I even tried it out, but nobody wanted to take a picture of a 6 month pregnant chick shaking her booty!

Lindsie and Mallory had fun on the skating rink. Mallory enjoyed the music more than the skating I think...she was singing along and dancing most of the time.

Every year my mom and dad do a Valentine's party for the whole family. They started the tradition like 8 years ago and we go to Classic Skating for a party. They buy a bunch of game tokens, skating passes, bounce zone tickets, and lazer tag games for everyone. They order pizza and drinks and we eat and play all night long. We get worn out by the time the night is over.

Janessa, Jeremy, my dad and I had fun using most of the tokens to play the games. Jeremy and Jay were shooting baskets most of the night trying to break each others record. I played skee-ball and shot some baskets too. Then it was time to play lazer tag. We were all on one team against 2 other teams and our team won! Thanks mom and dad for all the fun things you do for the family.

HO HO HO!!

Christmas 2008 was great! We moved back to Utah and were still living with my parents waiting for our house in NC to sell. It was fun having Christmas with them again. We got lots of good stuff. I love my parents house at Christmas. My mom goes all out decorating. They have the best Christmas tree...it is so big!

Tica didn't like her Santa outfit very much! We only made her leave it on for a few minutes. I just bought it to be funny and surprise everyone, I didn't even tell Jeremy I bought it...I just put it on her and she went running around making my family laugh.

Jer got some new shoes!! And they weren't NIKE!!

It was fun to be back around family for Christmas. I missed the traditional Christmas Eve get together. Except this year Margo & Rick threw it off by having us do it the day before Christmas Eve! Anyway, the whole family including Jeremy's grandparents came and enjoyed a delicious dinner at my parents. Then we each got to open up one gift. Well...the gift Jeremy and I gave Rick was a funny joke...as you can tell by the pictures he was really surprised and not so happy with us :) He hates loud kids toys and was bragging about how he had hid this toy popper thing from Lindsie when she was little and she forgot about it. Apparently Rick forgot about it too and found it several years later on some shelf. So he joked about how he hid it from Mallory and threw it in the garbage. Jeremy and I were babysitting that weekend while they went on a trip and it was garbage day...as Jeremy is taking the garbage out he noticed the handle of the popper thing and took it out of the garbage. We kept it hid for several months until Christmas rolled around and gave it to Rick. He was shocked...the kids were laughing...of course Mallory loved it and wanted to play with it...Rick opened my parent's front door and chucked the toy as far as he could!

Of course Tica was spoiled with Christmas gifts from grammy and grampy. She loves those bones! Grammy and grampy even had a present under the tree for Cameron (I was 4 months pregnant @ Christmas). I'm sure he will love playing with it when he gets here...it was one of those toy play things where the baby lays on the ground and has all this stuff over him he can kick and touch and pull. It looked like fun!

What's Christmas time without seeing the lights at Temple Square!? We went one night with my parents and walked around. It was pretty cold. Since I was 4 months pregnant I was probably in the bathroom more than I was outside enjoying the lights. After we went to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory...YUMMY...for a carmel apple treat!

2 Years already???

For our two year anniversary (I was 3 months pregnant) Jeremy surprised me with a nice evening! We ate at in Joseph Smith Building at the restaurant "The Roof" where we had our luncheon after getting sealed in the Temple. The dinner was delish and we even got a free appetizer!

After dinner we went on a romantic carriage ride and got a tour of Salt Lake City....well it wasn't too romantic, the driver didn't stop talking to us the whole time! However, it was fun I've lived here all my life and learned a lot of neat things on the tour that I wouldn't have learned if the driver didn't tell us. The best part of the carriage ride is...I was really disappointed on the day we got married because after taking all the pictures with family and the wedding was over, before heading up to Park City all I wanted to do was take a carriage ride. So, we ran down the street, still dressed in our wedding atire and me draging my train on the sidewalk...only to find out that there were no carriage rides at that time of the day! Unfortunately, we didn't know this and hadn't planned ahead or we could have scheduled for a ride! I was bumbed. So it was really cute that Jeremy remembered this and thought about doing it for an anniversary.

There is a huge Christmas tree in the Joseph Smith Building on the main floor, so big you can't get the whole tree in the picture if you want to be visible in it. So after dinner we got our picture taken by it. I don't love the idea of a Chrismas tree in November....we didn't get married in December, but anyway the tree was pretty.

Spooky Halloween '08

Jeremy planned a fun date night in October (10/17/08). We went to dinner and then went on a haunted Heber Creeper train ride. The Heber Creeper does a fun haunted ride every year at night so it's dark and they have someone talking over the speakers while you ride and look outside at all the people/actors and scary things coming on and off the train. We sipped hot chocolate and sat under blankets during the ride. It's a fun and festive thing to do and watch all the kids dressed up in their costumes.
How!!

Pregnant Pocahontas (2 months along)!! I was working as a school social worker for Rose Park Elementary and my last day there was on Halloween. I loved working there...Halloween doesn't get much more fun when your dressed up with a bunch of excited kids psyched about going around to strangers to get free candy! The school day is totally chaotic with parades and parties and laughter. What a great last day there!!

Jeremy had a great idea to carve pumpkins one night. We bought some cute small pumpkins and had fun carving them. From left to right it's Jeremy's pumpkin, my mom's, my dad's, and then mine.

Jeremy got the prize for taking the LONGEST time to carve a pumpkin...I think that was a world record. My cute husband! He tried so hard and did such a good job. The best part of it is the pumpkins were tiny, minnie nothings!

Jeremy and I had fun carving pumpkins with my parents to get ready for Halloween. I remember carving pumpkins every year as a kid. Come to find out my dad HATED every minute of that activity!! He finally admitted it to my mom and I that night :) He said he would always end up being the one to carve all of our pumpkins because we couldn't get the knife to work how we wanted and then he had to get the guts out for us. Anyway, thanks dad for sticking with it all those years because I have great memories of those traditions!

Once again Tica had no idea what was going on! She was a little worried about these orange things being on fire. That didn't stop her from trying to eat them though!
