Fishing with Grampy

Grampy planned to take Spencer and Troy fishing last Saturday and talked about taking Cameron, but we all knew that Grampys somewhat relaxing day of fishing wouldn't be so relaxing if he took Cameron. So, Jeremy went with them up to Rockport Dam and they spent the day fishing.

Cameron had fun fishing,

but then he found the rocks!! Of course collecting rocks is just as boring as fishing, I mean way more fun than fishing :)

I think it's cute that Grampy took the boys fishing, what a fun grampy! Cameron always has so much fun with his Spencer and Troy, they are so cute with him.

Everyone had fun and Cameron talked about it for days after. The only sad thing is nobody caught any fish!! They said that people around them were all catching fish so they knew there were some in the water! Well, maybe next time....

Grammy's Halloween Party

Cameron couldn't wait to go to Grammy's Halloween Party. She mailed all the grand kids invitations a few weeks before to get them excited. We put it on the fridge and Cameron would look at it everyday and get excited. The day finally came and even though it doesn't look like he is excited, believe me he was....he carried the invitation around with him all morning.

He dressed up as Woody and thought it was so cute that he wanted to take his Woody toy with him.

Grammy his pumpkins and they got to go find them....

and decorate them....this year she had some funny stickers of eyes, noses, glasses, mouths, teeth etc laid out and they got to pick the face to decorate the pumpkin with. The kids LOVED it and got really creative.

Cameron picked these glasses for his pumpkin and decided to put them on himself (upside down)..

The cousins are always soooo cute with Cameron and they all want to help him. Lindsie helped him with his pumpkin.

Once all the pumpkins were decorated Spencer and Troy decorated themselves...silly boys!

At one point during the festivities, Cameron decided he wanted a break I guess because I found him laying down reading a book. He LOVES to go to Grammy and Grampy's house and he has his little routines and things he likes to do there. So I think he was a little overwhelmed with the party and all the fun activities and stuff going on. He wanted things to be how they normally were when he goes there. He kept trying to get Grammy to go outside and throw rocks in the ditch or go swing. Then he finally recruited Janessa to go downstairs and play air hockey with him towards the end.

Of course everyone wanted to hold the littlest cousin....this was Mackenzie's first Halloween party experience. Grammy made sure she was included and had a sack full of prizes, presents, and treats for her just like she had for all the other grandkids.

I took a picture of Cameron by this witch on the couch last year...when it was his first Halloween party. It's funny because Cameron was a skeleton also. He was 5 months old though and Mackenzie is only 5 weeks old.

She is such a smiley happy girl. It's easy to get her smile and interact with you. Grammy was talking to her and trying to get her to smile so could take the picture and she started smiling/laughing and slowly tipped over as I snapped the picture and Grammy reached to catch her.

Cupcake decorating time....or eating time! Cameron couldn't wait to eat his cupcake until they were decorated. He sure has a sweet tooth like his mommy.

He thought it was pretty fun to decorate them after he ate one :)

Then they played a few games of Halloween Bingo. The treasure chest in the middle held the prizes for every time they won.

My mom didn't think Cameron would be interested in playing Bingo, but he surprised us all and sat there. He was actually interested and listened to everything being called, he would find it on his board and get excited when he had it.

He took his few rounds of Bingo serious though. He did get a few prizes from the treasure box...

But then he started eating the candy he used to mark them with and decided he was done. So my mom read Halloween stories with him and sang some Halloween songs.

On one of his "breaks" from the party he went outside with Grammy and the first thing he noticed when they walked outside is "look at that red tree". He told grammy he wanted to show mommy. Cameron is such a cute kid, he notices everything (things that kids his age, or even older, would never notice!) He is so observant and cute about things. We can't wait for the party next year Grammy! Thanks for creating traditions for the grandkids like you did for us as kids. It's important for them to have these memories and hopefully Cameron and Mackenzie will always remember these fun times with you like we remember the fun things Grandma did with us kids!

Pumpkin fun

For Family Home Evening a few weeks ago, I wanted to carve pumpkins. So we went to this cute pumpkin patch right by our house to get our pumpkins. I guess this farmer does this every year and apparently its pretty popular!! I am guessing there were about 200 other people that had the same idea that night :) Anyway, Cameron got our wheelbarrow and we headed out to find the perfect pumpkins!

There were rows and rows and rows of pumpkins to choose from. Cameron seemed to enjoy looking at the pumpkins but got more excited when he found a rock that he could throw in Grammy and Grampy's ditch. The wheelbarrow had more rocks in it than it did pumpkins. I had to keep reminding him that we were there to get pumpkins not rocks!

The whole atmosphere of this place is fun and festive. They had old antique trucks that were set up for picture taking, bales of hay also set up for pictures, a corn maze for kids, tons of small and large tractors for the kids to sit on, a hay/tractor ride. We didn't plan on all the extra stuff, if I had known about all the other stuff I would have planned to spend more time there. And we actually spent longer than planned so we had to wait to carve the pumpkins for another night.

Maybe next year we will go do the corn maze...

Cameron had the most fun jumping off the hay to daddy.

But he also thought it was pretty cool to sit on the tractor.

We paid for our pumpkins and went home, it was too late to carve the pumpkins but we had a good time picking them out. Cameron kept saying all the little ones were for Kenzie.

Yay, we finally found a night free to carve them! Mommy drew the faces on the pumpkins and then daddy carved them. Cameron helped mommy decided what shapes to draw. He would say "do squares for eyes and a rectangle for a mouth" and then "do stars for eyes and a triangle for the mouth" etc.

Cameron intently watched daddy as he carved them. He wanted to help me draw on the pumpkins and wanted to help carve them with the knife.....

But he wasn't quite sure about getting the guts out. He isn't a kid that likes to get all messy and dirty. He kind of gets that from his daddy I think (notice how daddy uses a spoon, not his hand, to scoop the guts out?) Anyway, I assured Cameron that it was fun and he should try it.

He looked inside and thought about it for like 5 minutes,

Then he went for it, he pulled out one tiny seed and decided he didn't like the feel of using his hands,

So daddy let him borrow the spoon :)

Priceless!

I am pretty sure this is the cutest thing I have seen! Talk about a Kodak moment. I laid Kenzie in the middle of my bed and put some pillows all around her while I went to the bathroom. I had her bottle on my night stand. Of course she started fussing when I set her down, so I knew I was on the clock. Cameron was in the other room, which I thought was a good thing so I didn't have to worry about him jumping on her. When I came out of the bathroom this is what I saw.

I think this is one of the most genuine smiles he has ever done. He was so stinkin cute. I said "oh wow what a good big brother you have Mackenzie, he is so nice to feed you your bottle,"

I love the way he is looking at her here....so sweet!!

I love these two little twerps :) They make me smile!
