Pucker UP

So Cameron's moto is "When life gives you limes....eat them!"

I don't want to lable Cameron as a "picky" eater because I don't want him to internalize that lable and use it as an excuse all his life. So I will change my choice of words to "cautious eater". Anyway, I was surprised that he ate the lime and kept gnawing on it since he is such a cautious eater :)

24th of July

our morning started out with a drive up Emigration Canyon (a very slow drive...there was a marathon that day and lots of lanes were blocked and roads closed) to Ruth's Diner. It is a great place to eat, especially for breakfast! Jeremy's brother and his family hadn't been there before so we thought we would start off our morning with some delicious food. We had a big day ahead of us....

After breakfast we went to This is the Place Heritage Park. Cameron rode on his first horse and had lots of fun! There was also a little petting zoo where he checked out the animals. The sad thing is there was a fire a few weeks before and burned down the main barn and killed lots of the animals. So there weren't very many there this day :(

There was a cute little train ride that we rode over and over and over. Cameron thought it was pretty cool.

Daddy went with us once and had his fill of fun....so Cameron and I rode it without him a few times :)

There was this cute little play area with mini houses and a wooden train, the kids loved playing in this area and ran from house to house.

It was so cute to watch Cameron play and figure out things to do....like stick his head out the window!

"Hey guys I'm in here..."

Cameron and cousin Molly playing

Cameron loves to drive things and played train conductor for awhile.

Then the kids (and me) panned for gold. I found some! The best part is you can turn the gold in for candy :)

We had lots of fun exploring other parts of the park and getting a tour of the place on a big train. All the workers there dress in time period clothing, which is interesting to see, but I'm not sure I would want to work there in the summer heat!! We were hot and sweaty.

Cheese fries please!

Cameron gets his love for cheese fries from his mom :) but I have no idea where he gets his kick back, make yourself at home and relax while you eat attitude!?
We went to Training Table the other day (surprise surprise) and had lots of fun. First of all Jeremy brought all the food and set it on the table, when we realized they gave us the wrong size of cheese fries. So he took them back up to the counter and as he was leaving with them Cameron started crying and screaming....he kept trying to get out of his high chair to follow those cheese fries. Once they came back he was his happy self again and went to town eating them.
I'm sure one day we will teach him some manners and let him know it isn't really appropriate to eat with your feet on the table, especially in public :) But for right now it sure is funny and cute! I LOVE this kid. The fun never stops with him!

The Mailman

I'm sure most people in Utah know the 24th of July as Pioneer Day and celebrate this day as the day the pioneers settled the state. However few people know that this is Karl Malone's birthday!!!
Karl came back to Utah to celebrate his 47th birthday with ME :) He had a big party at his dealership and Jeremy and I drove by thinking we might stop in and try and see Karl. But I decided once we drove in that I didn't want to deal with the crowds and the chaos with Cameron. So we drove a little further to turn around when I looked out the window and what did I see...Karl Malone standing right before me! I jumped out of the car and ran over to him. I shook his hand and said Happy Birthday Karl. Then I motioned for Jeremy to jump out of the car and take our picture.
He is one big fella! I have always loved the Mailman. He is so down to earth and nice. He is so genuine and just chatted with me, he wasn't in a hurry but I think Jeremy was :)

So what I love about Karl is what you see is what you get....there isn't any arogance or cocky attitude....he isn't wearing big 'ol diamond earrings or tons of bling....he isn't in a suit or designer clothes to show how much money he has etc. He is just laid back and hard working. Happy Birthday Karl, I hope you had a fantastic day!

Swimming

My friend has a little boy who is 6 weeks older than Cameron and they are good buds. Her mom and dad have a swimming pool at their house so we decided to take the kids and cool off. It has been in the upper 90's and a few days reached 103 degrees so needless to say the swimming pool was a great idea!

Cameron and his bud Jayden hanging out in the tubes...

Sitting on the steps, splashing and having fun.

Cameron does have a cautious bone (phew) and wanted me to hold him when we first got in the water. He didn't like the idea of being in the tube right at first. So he observed the other kids swimming and splashing and I let him slowly get comfortable. Then he got on the tube by himself....then sat on the steps....and after that was having a blast climbing in and out and splashing. He didn't want to leave. We will be begging to head back to the pool again. Maybe Cameron can get rid of his farmers tan if we go a few more times :)

Funny boy

Cameron LOVES to laugh! He seriously cracks me up...he laughs all the time...out of the blue...we can be riding in the car and he will just start laughing. He has the cutest personality. He knows when he is being funny and he knows when Jeremy and I are laughing that he should laugh too. I took this little video about 10 minutes into the game Jeremy was playing with Cam. If you can believe it, he was laughing even harder and longer before I started videoing. I absolutely can't get enough of this kid!

Cousin Pictures

Grammy and Grampy wanted to get some updated pictures of the grandkids so she had a photographer come to their house one night last week. Thank goodness she was a patient photographer and worked well with kids because she had her work cut out for her with Cameron. We never knew when Cameron was going to smile or stay put, so the cousins had to have their game face or picture face on at all times! They all did awesome....

Jeremy and I had our family pictures taken a few weeks before these so I really didn't plan on getting any of the ones she took of Cameron....however, I just couldn't pass up these two! When I get the ones back of our family I will post those, but it is taking a long time.

I love his little back side...what a cute picture of him walking on the path!

The 3 boy cousins....Cameron, Troy, and Spencer. Even though they are much older than Cameron, they still love him and have fun playing with him. They will be good examples for him to follow!

Janessa, Spencer, Troy, Lindsie, Cameron, and Mallory.

Cameron wouldn't leave grammy and grampy's wagon alone....I let him play in it until all the other cousins were posed for the picture and then hurry and plop him where the photographer wanted him. Sometimes he would stay and most of the time he wouldn't. Finally I suggested to just have all the kids gather around the wagon for a picture and thought they might actually be some of the best ones because Cameron would at least be happy. She didn't love the idea because she thought it looked less professional and more like an everyday picture. But I think you just have to work with what you've got, and we had an active 1 year old with a mind of his own :)

The best part about these pictures is all of us standing around the photographer making fools out of ourselves. Margo and I dancing and making weird noises, blowing a whistle, throwing grass in the air....Michele waving a puppet all around and making noise with a paper bag. We were trying anything to get Cameron's attention and try to make him smile. Most of the time it just caught his attention and made him stop for a second...I am pretty sure he thought we were crazy though. Finally, we realized we needed Grampy out there to make him smile and laugh. It worked for awhile until he just wanted Grampy to "save" him and hold him :)

There he goes....to have Grampy save him. I actually LOVE this picture, it is my favorite. Mostly because it captures how the day really went and how Cameron really is! I Love this kid and all of his energy and spark. I love my sisters' kids and think they are all such great kids and are so good with Cameron. Somehow the picture doesn't seem complete though! We just might need to add another cousin to the mix. NO that isn't an announcement, just a thought :)
