Little twerp

Cameron has a little obession with the garbage can and throwing away anything! I think it is so cute that he sees us putting stuff in this big container so he does it...he just doesn't know that what goes in there usually doesn't come out. Unless, I actuallty see what he puts in there then I know what to take out. Unfortunately, I think he has thrown away several things that I didn't see....we are missing one shoe (a brand new shoe!) and can't find it anywhere!! I try to make sure the door is closed, but there are times (like in this video) where I am making dinner and need to get items from the pantry and don't want to keep opening it.

He threw away a few soup cans before I started filming....and then he figured out how to get the other cans out of that box and threw a few of those away too...

Ragnar Relay!

If you don't know anything about the Ragnar Relay Race or aren't a runner then this might not even sound fun to you....but it was a BLAST!! I got excited all over again just going through the pictures to post and remembering how much FUN it was! So just to fill you in, you have a team of 12 runners and 2 vans (6 runners in each van). Your team run 188 miles in less than 2 days...you start in Logan and end at the Canyons in Park City. Each person runs 3 different legs, at all different times. My first run was at 2:30 pm then 11:00 pm and then 8:00 am. Most people decorate their vans with their team name. Here is a picture of our van.

My sister Margo has done this race since it started 7 years ago. This is pretty much the origional team....I totally lucked out to get on the team this year because one of their guys got injured. So they have the van decorating down to a science. We had sponsors and they even had shirts made that we all wore on the last run.


This was one of the vans that was decorated. It was a pretty sweet set up. They had a mattress in the back of the truck and the elephant thing provided shade.

Some people were pretty creative with their names and van decorations and some people didn't put a lot of effort in, but it was fun to see what everyone came up with.

Here I am running my first leg. I had my team/van meet me 2 miles into my run to give me some water and spray me down...we had a weed sprayer thing that we got to put water in. It was a wonderful idea, especially since I was running at 2:30 in the afternoon in 90 degree heat!

The scenery was AMAZING! It was sooooo beautiful and we even saw 3 moose, look close in the picture and you will see them. The funny thing about picture is, we took a wrong turn (one of the Ragnar direction signs was covered up by another car) so we actually drove to the exchange place where runner #9 passes off to runner #10. We took this picture and said "oh Margo is going to freak out when she sees she is running past moose". We get to the exchange place and are waiting for Margo...Tara is all streached and ready to grab the bracelet and run....we wait and wait and wait. Finally we find out we are waiting at the wrong exchange place and Margo is waiting at the other place wondering where the heck we are! We all run back to the van and look at the map, make our way over the right place and see Margo still running. So we pull over Margo hops in Tara hops out and starts running. We explained what happened and Margo says she waited there for us but then decided to keep running and hoped we would all find each other....that definitely could have worked out BAD but we were lucky and it all turned out fine :)

This is a view of one of the exchange places....where one runner hands off to the other runner on the team. That's why there are a bunch of cars pulled over on the side....letting runners out, picking runners up and then once the runner gets going all the cars disperse and meet their runners at differentspots to provide support and then meet at the next exchange place to switch runners and start over :)

Did I mention how beatiful the views were? This is what I got to see while running!

I ran 2 of my legs during the day so I got some great views. One of my runs was at night so I really couldn't see anything, it was quite interesting. I just focused on shining my head lamp down on the road so I could look for pot holes.

The not so fun part!! The lines to the port a pots were rediculious. Plus they had this rule that if you were caught going to the bathroom anywhere else besides the designated areas you would be automatically disqualified. I just happened to miss that part of orientation (because, ironically, I was waiting in the port a potty line). I found out that information only AFTER I fertalized a farmers field during one of my runs. Hey, when you gotta go you gotta go...especially when you are running.

Yes there was lots of adventure on this 2 day excursion. While we were waiting at the exchange place for our runner (around 3 am) 3 of us were sitting in the car talking and trying to stay warm!! The radio was on the whole time, we weren't even listening to it, it didn't even occur to us that it might run the battery down. So Tara runs in and hands off to Chris...he takes off, gives us a wave and we all get back in the van to meet him. But it wouldn't start....the battery was dead! After asking 10 people we found someone with cables to help us, but once we hooked them up it was obvious the jumper cables were dead. We tracked down some more and eventually got it started about 40 minutes after Chris had started running! We went straight to the next exchange place and hoped he wasn't there waiting for us (he is fast) but luckily he ran in shortly after we got there.

The night run was the most fun even though we had to wear reflective vests and run with head lamps! I would rather run in cooler weather than blazing heat! Most of this run was up-hill though which I wasn't really prepared for. To be honest I wasn't really prepared for any of it, I hadn't trained...I really hadn't ran since the half marathon in Moab and I hurt my knee. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity!

After all our runners finished their 2nd legs it was around 5 am and we headed to this 5 star hotel to shower while van #1 (our other 6 team members started their 3rd legs). Keep in mind we have all been in the van (suburban) for 24 hours straight....running 2 different times, eating, trying to rest, stretching, freezing, talking, laughing, becoming delirious. So we were relieved to have 2 hours to "relax", but when we walked into our rooms we were a little disturbed and wondered why this hotel wasn't shut down by the disease control center or something!! I was also trying to figure out how they could get away with charging $120 for such a DUMP! If I wasn't so exhaused, delirious and sore you couldn't have paid me to touch that bed, but after inspecting it for bed bugs and taking off the disgusting blankets I laid down (thank goodness I had my own pillow) and got a 20 minute nap. I got up showered and we were on the road again...I was the first runner that morning.

We pulled over to wait for our runner and give him water, but couldn't resist taking a picture with the great view. We looked up and he was running past us...Bubba ran after him and gave him his water. Towards the end I don't think we were as "awake" as we should have been :)

So here I am taking the bracelet from our last runner in van #1, and I'm off for my last run of Ragnar :(

Father's Day

It was Jeremy's second Father's Day!! I made waffles for breakfast and then we went to church. All the dads got Dunford chocolate cake doughnuts (thanks to me....the Relief Society Presidency was in charge of it and so I thought that sounded good, I mean I thought the dads would all like that. And I knew there would be left overs...) After church we ALL took a nap, that was Cameron's gift to daddy. Then after dinner we went on a walk around the neighborhood with Cameron in his wagon and Tica on her leash.

Cameron loved this card we gave daddy and he just kept opening it up and babbling non stop like he was reading it to him.

We gave daddy a digital photo frame, that he can take to work for his desk, or he can leave it at home for us all to enjoy. I love these frames! It's fun to just have pictures constantly going because you neve really look at your pictures otherwise. Daddy also got a game for the Wii and a good looking shirt :)

We celebrated Father's Day the Sunday before because my mom and dad were going out of town for Father's Day (and my mom's birthday) so we had everyone over for an early celebration.

I don't know what I was thinking, but I thought it would be "fun" to make birthday and Father's Day cakes. I guess I thought since I made Cameron's birthday cakes I was a "professional caker" now and could just whip them out fast. It probabaly wouldn't have been as stressful if I didn't have to make dinner, clean the house, set the tables and a bunch of other preparations that day. Anyway, they turned out cute and in the end I am glad I made them because it was more special that way.

Here are the two birthday girls getting ready to blow out their candles. We celebrated my mom's birthday and Jeremy's grandma's birthday since they were within 4 days of Father's Day.

All the fathers were supposed to help blow out the candles, but my dad was the only brave one...and Emma just loves parties, she is always the first one to help open the gifts or blow out the candles :) Notice how grampy is holding Cameron...well, Cameron LOVES grampy!! He wouldn't let him out of his sight and would cry if grampy set him down. They have a special bond and grampy is really the only person he will let hold him. We had a good 2 weeks of celebrating. I hope you had a good Father's Day Jeremy. You are such a great dad and Cameron loves you! I am thankful for all you do for our family. I look forward to many more Father's Days and many more kids (well, maybe not many). I am also thankful for my dad. My dad is seriously the most patient, fun, thoughtful, hard working, loving, funny (great sense of humor), laid back, kind, dependable, generous, and genuine people in the world!! I am thankful for your example growing up and for all you did and still do for me. If I ever need anything I know I can always call you and you will be there. I can't even name all the times you left work to help me when I ran out of gas, my jeep broke down and needed a tow truck, I was lost and needed directions, and on and on....

Like mother like son....

Cameron was playing around in the pantry, like he usually does, and when I looked to see what he was running away with this is what I saw. I was laughing so hard I couldn't take the picture. I think it is so funny that he knew what it was and what to do with it! Maybe that is a sign he sees mommy do it too often!! At least it's just Diet Coke right :)

Big Boy Car seat

I thought for sure once we put Cameron in his new car seat the car naps were over! But it appears if he is tired enough he will still sleep. It used to be that the only way I could get him to take an afternoon nap was to drive around or go somewhere. Lately he has been better about taking a nap in his crib, even if it's only for 30 minutes...I can get a lot done in 30 minutes!

Field Trip

Hip Hip Horray for field trips! My friend and I met at the aquarium in Sandy for a fun outting with the kiddos...her 3 and my 1 made for lots of FUN! I think I had as much fun if not more fun than Cameron. I LOVED the penguins!! I am embarassed to say I never knew penguins swam...I just thought they waddled around :)

We were lucky to get this picture because Cameron was having so much fun looking at the penguins he wouldn't turn around to look at the camera, but it was perfect timing when he did because we got the penguin in the picture too.

I guess I will have to rent "Happy Feet" now that I fell in love with penguins :) I never saw that movie but heard it was good.

It was so cute to see them waddle around and then get to the edge and jump into the water.

Of course Cameron loved the ginormous frog and didn't want to leave it to see all the other stuff.

There are all these neat aquariums with tons of reptiles and amphibians. We saw hundreds of different kinds of fish, sea horses, octopus, sting rays, star fish, snakes, jelly fish (those were cool), lizzards, and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember the names of or have never heard of!

This was pretty cool...you could pet the sting rays. They would come to the side and want you to pet them. I touched one and it was slimmy and weird. Cameron stuck his hand in the water but didn't get to touch one.

I was a little too slow and didn't get the whole shark in the picture, but we were looking at the shark tank that had several different sharks in it. There was so much to see and do that we didn't get to see everything. I bought a season pass so we will for sure be going back. It only made sense to do that....a one time ticket was $9 and a season pass was $20 for one adult. Kids 2 and under get in free. I am already looking forward to our next visit!

One year check up

Cameron went to his one year Dr. visit the other day. Of course he was all excited, happy and running around the room with only his diaper on. His Dr. couldn't get over how "cute" and "smart" he is. I felt so bad because then the nurse came in and stuck his finger so she could draw some blood in a tiny vile. He didn't even cry, but he tried to pull his hand away from her death grip as she squeezed his finger really hard. Then she gave him 3 shots in his thighs. He cried after the 2nd shot and was really mad when she did another one. The good news is he is still growing, but apparently just really slowly. He weighs 19 lbs 4.5 oz (5%) which is weird because I don't think he looks skiny. Hi is 29.5 inches tall (45%) and his head is 45 centimeters (15%). She said his head looks great...you could never tell he had problems with the shape of it before. But the poor little guy has to get back on Previcid because he still has GERD or acid reflux issue. Good thing for insurance because the pills are an insane $200.00 we still paid a rediculious amount of $50. Now that Cameron is one he gets to drink Vitamin D milk, which isn't a problem....the problem is getting rid of the bottle. We are supposed to put it in sippy cups which he doesn't consider anything but a toy and hasn't figured out how to get anything out of them. I bought 3 different sippy cups and tried all 3...guess I will keep see how many more I can buy! The next Dr. visit is at 15 months, so hopefully we have the sippy cup mastered by then.
